With the latest price cuts coming into effect next week, Britons are being urged to check they are on the best gas and electricity tariffs for their region.
EDF and Scottish Power have been the last of the big six providers to move, with their cheaper tariffs coming into effect on 15 June.
Analysis from moneysupermarket.com reveals the cheapest tariffs will be in the east of England for dual fuel, the East Midlands for electricity and southern Scotland for gas (see table below).
British Gas is the cheapest dual fuel provider in nine of the 14 regions. Those in the east of England can pay £733 a year on a dual fuel tariff based on average energy consumption, although those on the same tariff in the Midlands would pay £766.
EDF is the cheapest electricity provider in 10 of the regions, with British Gas best for the remaining four. Those in the East Midlands have the cheapest electricity of £232 a year compared to £300 a year in South Wales.
For gas only, Scottish Power is the cheapest provider in 11 regions.
Paul Schofield, head of utilities at moneysupermarket.com, said: "It's encouraging to see a smaller provider, such as Utilita. This... could even spark another flurry of price cuts."
Here are the the providers who charge the least by region (Figures provided by moneysupermarket.com. Accurate up to 30.5.07. Based on medium usage consumption with the customer paying by direct debit).
